At last here is the new and improved 0.77 release candidate of phaeronix.

This iso is generally stable and very usable, but a lot of the new features need testing. Among these are:

  1. Hardware detection:
    • Mouse.
    • Modems : motorolla, smartlink, lucent, intel 536 537 and ham
    • Synaptics touchpad support
    • TV cards ( v4l supported )
    • Monitor settings detection ( dependant on X.org)
  2. Arabic console and xterm using bicon:
    • Console is by default arabic.
    • Run AXterm from the menu.
  3. Memory requirements:
    • I have calculated that the CD needs about 55Mb of RAM to run. Therefore you need at least 64Mb of RAM without swap for it to be useable. This needs to be verified, and posssibly optimised.
  4. Captive NTFS for full ntfs support.
  5. Anything else I forgot.

Here is a list of some of the programs on the full liveCD:

Download is still through the slow connection on my linux box in kasrelaini medical faculty, but I hope this is temporary and I will find a better place.

You can find the iso along with the md5sum to check the integrity of the download here :

UPDATE: I am building a website so you can get the direct download here:

http://linux.elkasrelaini.com/phaeronix077RC.iso

and thanks to AmrGo there is a mirror here:

If you have no use for the liveCD's programs, i.e. you won't actually use it but you want to help with debugging and developing then wait for the miniCD version (only about 185Mb) which will be ready in a few days. The miniCD has all the hardware detection, basic system and GUI, but it lacks most of the programs.
