( categories: Website)

I suggest for making an advertisment for Our IRC server name due to knowing nothing about the IRC server name and i think that most of new members don't know about this cool contact otherwise most of new members state thier problems by PM or maybe in threads and want to solve thier problems as soon as possible. So, We must invite the new members to our server in IRC to be on contact with us.

For example: i know this Servername from PronCo and if he didn't tell me about that server i don't even know this Server and i think that Pronco know this servername from the festival ...

Not everyone has JRE installed and Java chat rooms sucks. One could just install xchat or any other IRC client and connect to the channel and we as a LUG don't chat for recreation to add java chatting applications. They are also exteremly heavy slow and uncustomizable (I think).

However we could add a small tutorial on how to connect to an IRC channel using xchat.

ok as u c ,it's a a fact that JAVA client is slow but it was just an idea ., and if there will be tutorails about IRC clients, clients under windows like Mirc must be included to help the users who is still using M$ ,

xchat works under windows, we will not carry tutorials for proprietary software under windows.

a member does not have to use IRC to get support, so they can stick to the forum until they figure out how to use xchat from within GNU/Linux, or google for howto use mirc themselves, or use xchat under windows.

cheers,
Alaa

I'm with seek_the_reality on this one. A tutorial is a great idea, and it should cover mIRC as well as saying that there is a better alternative available, i.e. x-chat.

Actually, seek_the_reality, you were wondering what kind of article to wor on, how about this? In arabic? With screenshots and so?

we will not use any proprietary or nonstandard technology on the website, Java is proprietary, the free versions are not complete and are not widely used at all.

check what RMS says about Java he puts it in better words than me.
