I guess this should be classified as FLOSS NEWS ?

Mods, Does it deserve a promotion to the front page or not ?

I have a question: How is this going to be arranged with the faculties ?

1- An email has been sent to the faculties students groups.
2- A meeting with the faculties staff will be conducted.
3- A presentaion from OpenCraft will be organized at the faculties places.

If you got any more ideas we will be happy to know it.

COOL!

I guess we must convince some of the staff, I guess you should also explain to them WHY OSS, Let me tell you a couple of points:

  1. I guess You'll be targeting CS students, By using OSS they'll be able to know how things work, Not just using the technology.
  2. By using OSS frameworks they'll know how to interact with the community and they'll have a hands on experience on how the software development cycle works.
  3. Imagine people looking at the source code for an interpreter such as php ? This is learning.
  4. Nothing, Just woke up and I can't remember more ;-)

Is this only restricted to CS students? (okay, i'm a former CS student but now at College of Commerce and a full-time web developer)
I'm more of exteremly interested 'cause a) i would be so happy to work with NGOs 'cause people who work to serve our socaity for nothing in return deserve our respect and effort b) this is a way to be a better developer

should i assume that these NGOs are not-for-profit, as well?

No it's not restricted to CS students only.
But as you know science is an important thing as you got the science and concepts you are welcome to join.

Sure we would be pleased to hold such a presentation at the "HTI"
We need to organize a meeting at OpenCraft first.

By what metrics is Open Craft the leader in Egypt and the Middle East in the terms defined in the first bullet?

Good point, as usual. It was also raised in the recently-formed EGJUG, and answered there, hopefully to your satisfaction:

Though knowing the local market, if you're talking SMEs then you're probably on the money. I'd say you might be the most visible, FWIW.

Carlsberg's advertising uses the slogan "Probably the best beer in the world". Superlatives can be had, albeit at a price.

Anyhow, I hope Rady's business group proposition picks up momentum; it would be a nice opportunity to see you fellows again (apart from getting actual work done).
