I suggest establishing Public Relation Team for EGLUG, where this team will take care of - or add more support - introducing GNU-Linux Egypt to the Egyptian community and assist in the efforts doing all needed coordination between eglug and society – arrange for meetings at Al-Sakia for interested parties with eglug members and even arrange for workshop and seminars wherever it's needs. This team will prepare - as well – articles and media material needed about FOSS and Gnu-Linux as references for mass media writers, and may even visit interested organizations at there locations. The team will do his best to contact the following: Mass Media (newspapers, Magazines, local TV and space channels ….), Government Ministries, Local and international - non profit – organizations andNGOs

As volunteers of EGLUG, Abdul Rahman and Mostafa Mohammed will join me - as little contribution from us to EGLUG.

this makes absolutley no sense to me.

the tasks you mentioned cover just about 70% of all EGLUG activities and most have nothing to do with public relations.

IMO the PR team should be a small team concerned with doing PR about eglug only, not about FOSS in general.

the PR team should be responsible for making the website, the group and our activities known and visible, nothing more and nothing less.

cheers,

Alaa

I just realized that I missed two words in my previous post, which totaly changes the meaning :-(

I meant to say the PR team should only be responsible for making our activities known and visible, not for actualy organizing them.

cheers,

Alaa

I had a lot from Eglug and I would like to offer anything usful to it - or to us as member in Eglug - it's wonderful community, wonderful members - whom doing their best for better life. I want to invite others to join us somehow and introduce our activities to them - as this is my experience field.

I agree with Alaa; the idea behind PR is to make our activities more visible. This is why I think one of the first things that need to get done is to put together a press kit. With a press kit, everything else will suddenly become easier; got a contact all of a sudden in some newspaper? No problem! A quick download of the press kit and you're set.

I think we should discuss in this thread what the contents and messages of a press kit should be.

Of course, these are only my thoughts, you guys may disagree. That is the whole idea of discussing it in here.
