Everybody,
We will be having an interview with Eng.Ahmed Hussien currently TE Data's R&D manager and previously Geganet's operations manager and TE Data's operations manager on his story with FOSS and its implementation in a large Egyptian ISP working on a carrier level.
Here we will be suggesting our questions and awaiting for you to submit your own question to choose among them and have an interview 'a la slashdot' style.
-Tell us the story of the FOSS implementation in your organization from the very beginning mentioning difficulties and risks faced during the process
-What were the social/financial/technological impact of FOSS implementation on your business, what was the value-added to the community?
-Tell us in details (bearing in mind your organization's security and non-disclosure policy) what FOSS solution were used and successfully implemented in your case, also tell us if there were any failures along the way.
-How could we implement your idea in Egypt organizations and educational instiutes?
-From your point of view, how can we convince Egyptians to use FOSS? Knowing that they always think that whenever you pay money it's worth and safe but as it is free it is dummy and risky.
-Is the free knowledge idea considered new to our culture/community or shall it be regarded as a revival of an old tradition noting how our ancestors provided free knowledge to the world.
-There sure was must be a hidden war bet. FOSS and the proprietary software. Could you tell us more about this through your personal experience.
-Let's have a what if scenario here, what if you had gone the other way (the proprietary way), where would you/your organization have been now?
-Do you still perceive this decision as a risk?
-Last but not least, where is EOSBC/AOSBC now? When are we going to hear any news about it?
