I think we will need a place to upload our EGLUG documents in different formats , this will be useful for pamphlets ,flyers and presentations.*

we need a place for files with limitation to hold scripts or configuration or even tarballs for themes.

also is needed a section for wallpapers other than screen shoots

we need a section for brochure as it will not fit on wallpapers section .i have designed something like 100 CM * 100 CM for alex courses.

(*)it should be posted as wiki page first then the document file

I made the wallpaper gallery, please move any wallpapers there.

but please pretty please no one use this section to post wallpapers you downloaded from somewhere, this section is for stuff you made yourself, if you found a nice one post a link on you blog or post a screenshot of your desktop using it with a link in the comment.

as for the pamphlet, what format is this 100CM*100CM?
how much DPI is it?
and who the hell has the money to print something like this?

we had bad expereince when we had a files section everyone just posted files from their wordprocessor instead of putting content inside the searchable drupal database, I even got slandered for suggesting people should post their content instead of simply uploading it :-(

so whats your opinion, what is the best way to allow people to upload files and at the same time not encourage them to abuse it?

data and sources(files) are the most important resources we have , and it is accumulator ,start as 0 and it will never end . for this, member should post the content of files to be retrieved through the CMS ,so members send the content of file as wiki first then pass the node number to one of moderators then moderator upload the file after verifying that the content is posted .

and for the 100cm thing ,I think it is one of sources may or may not be used by eglug .but it is ready for printing ,as i have printed similar poster .it will cost around 90 LE.no matter DPI or colors .

90 LE is not that expansive thing , and it was designed to announce the courses in AIT (if it will be possible ) so the organization should pay the expenses of announcement.this may help in any future event .at least the file is ready and it is easy to be edited to fit any event it is PSD format , and it has 400 DPI .

are you suggesting some procedure for uploading files?

can you clarify again what this procedure is? I did not get the accumulator part at all.

and ahem, let us agree to use FOSS only when producing our content and promotional metrial, there is no worse statement than using Window$ to make our own adverts or presentations.

the photos link open directly the event's gallery . where there is not direct Image galleries link . this will ease the access to the subsections .

i have a suggestion -i do not know if it's possible or not- . can we retrieve the events as calender format for previous months -later on it will be years :) - some thing like

the links on the left side are used to take you directly to useful content not to major website sections organized on the basis of content type.

I generaly believe organizing the website over topic is better than over content type.

and also we have internal galleries that are totaly meaningless to browse (the forum and article galleries for instance, and who knows what the future will bring), so it makes more sense to export the galleries people are supposed to browse to the front page and leave the others hidden.

not sure what your events request is, I don't understand it and its offtopic anyway, can't you post another thread with this suggestion stated more clearly?
