don't worry your beloved GNU/Linux is not gone, it is still there.

all that happened is that when oyu installed windows it deleted the Linux boot loader (the menu that lets you choose which operating system to boot).

all you need to do is restore the boot loader and things will be fine.

now you can do that using the Mandrake installation 1st CD.

  1. boot from the 1st cd
  2. when you get the welcome screen hit F1
  3. you'll get a text screen, write rescue and hit ENTER_
  4. this will load the rescue program, eventually you will see a list of operations
  5. using arrow keys, tab and enter select the option restore bootloader

tadah things should now work fine for you.

there is a possibility that this will not work if you changed the partitioning of your system when you installed windows, if partitions changed, you will have to restore the boot loader manually.

cheers, Alaa
