New Drupal site needs a hand

As some may have noticed here or on the #eglug, I've created a new site, I chose Drupal as my CMS -as I wished so long ago- so I could make use of some real life "drupaling"
I'd like to know:

• which modules you use in Eglug, especially the one for "Events" no need to put link, just tell me names, I'm one hell of a googler..!
  
• I will use blogging module (of course), If I wanna make a special classification with its own feeds and updates like الأوضة الزرقا in مدونة أسد http://asadx.net ,should I make it with creating a new blog or a new catigory will do the job..?
  
• what will I need to make the site bilingual..?
  
• If I wanna make some kind of radio -recorded not board-casted of course- should I host it on archive.org or other site..? and what the best tool in linux to make a small light clear sound files..?
  
• If I wanna host my own svn, will I need hard core system setup or a simple deploy like drupal itself..?
