Suggestion about a side event for companies in the installfest
There's an idea about creating a side event (may be a session or a workshop) in the coming installfest in alex targeted for (and presented by) profitable companies that care about FOSS business in egypt (either egyptian companies or multinationals).
The main target of the idea is to make eglug not only a user group, but make it a real center for FOSS in egypt. Making its events a pool of contacts on the business level, and promoting it in the companies too, which will make the companies eventually really interested to sponsor eglug activities, secure our needs (places to meet, .. etc), and think of eglug as a first alternative when they want to recruit, .. etc. which IMHO will help eglug alot in stabilizing and be a healthy LUG.

I don't think that would be a good idea. At least for this event.
I hate to say this, but it's a fact and we have to deal with it. EGLug is not in it's best shape right now. I think that one of the most important targets for such event is to bring new blood into the community.
We should keep focus on our main audience, students and young people. I agree that we should have include companies and bu in our publicity plan, and we should have content that is suitable for this audience. However we should not forget our main target.
I just want to say that nature of the event would be much different if it was business oriented. Sponsoring can (and I think they should) have the chance to give sessions or presentations about their Free/Open source products. But they should understand that this is not a business oriented event.
I am sorry if my thoughts are not quite clear..
