Arabic characters not connected in WINE applications

Hello, am using Kubuntu 9.04, am using a couple of programs through WINE.

Arabic support in Office 2007 is fine, i can read and write in arabic with no problems. But for example reading and writing in Messenger Live 2008 does not join the arabic letters, and sometimes (e.g. in labels) the text is inversed (LTR not RTL)

did anyone encounter such a problem before?any clues on how to solve it? i checked the WineHQ and ubuntu forums but nothing interesting there.

thanks

WINE itself does not

WINE itself does not provide any Arabic support (apart from primitive bidi), thus applications relaying on MS Windows system libraries for text rendering will not render Arabic properly. AFAIK MS Office uses its own copy of Uniscripe and not the system one (the one WINE provides).

In short, if the application don't do text rendering on its own, you will not get Arabic correctly rendered under WINE.
