Hello everyone.
First, just wanted to say a word of appreciation to the eglug team. Being thousands of miles away from my home Egypt, I assure you that this forum is really well known at a distance. Thanks all..
Next, as an extensive Ubuntu user and adoring fan, while celebrating the release of Gutsy (Ubuntu 7.10) today in the Gutsy release parties in the ubuntu forums. I am so surprised to find that there is an Egypt Ubuntu team..wow !! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EgyptTeam..
The question is; Are we EgLUG, somehow affiliated ?? I wish :) :) so, are we :) ??
Finally, the good news guys..
At last, the Gutsy solved the Wireless-N dilemma. It was a problem in the past releases by only supporting a,b,g versions of WiFi making the ndiswrapper the only way out...Well, not anymore, Gutsy supports all Wireless protocols. Yeaa :) :) Also, the dual monitor setup is now possible from the GUI. You can easily hook up your notebook to another external monitor and set the display up in seconds from the GUI menu instead of going in the xorg.conf scary adventure..
To my knowledge, Ubuntu is the first open source to be pre-installed on market Laptops. Dell is the first heavy weight to initiate it but rest assured, soon all others will follow..
Thanks again
True.. But...

Hi.. Yes that is true, I may be was too general by mentioning the word "open source". Well, Linux in particular, that was I exactly meant. I may not have seen any pre-installed RedHat, though. Not to mention the support, they do now support Ubuntu Linux on Dells, an option that can be bought at the time of purchase of a new machine. I have personally contacted Canonical, they do it on a one year or a 10 cases policy, whichever comes first. Here's where money gets in. But, hey, the Ubuntu forums are absolutely Phenomenal, so why pay ??
Thanks Cheers

Dell has been selling
Dell has been selling laptops with FreeDOS (also open source) for a while now, and they tried selling laptops with Red Hat in 2000 I think.
