I talked to the people at the association and to Alaa If you agree, we can set a dat of Saturday 18/2 sometime at the afternoon for a short introductory seminar What do you think?

saturday the 18th is fine by me, now let's see if we can get at least two more volunteers.

btw is this event open for any EGLUG member who wants to attend or only for the volunteers?

Sorry for late reply, I just wanted to check my schedule in work and here's my situation: I'll very busy on Thursday and Friday until Friday 8:00 PM. I'll have work at night shift (from 1:00AM - 9:00AM) on Saturday and Sunday. That mean I've to sleep almost Saturday morning.

So, in short, I can go, do some assistance, participate with already-made presentations or practical illustration but I can't contribute in any preparation if being made on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

we will start as we always do with a simple seminar where you:

• explain the basic ideas behind free and open source software
• describe the community at large and how development gets done
• introduce eglug
• talk about GNU/Linux and tools relevant to the group (in that case I'd expect desktop stuff, but will find out more on wednesday)
• questions and answers
• present GNU/Linux desktop through a live cd
• questions and answers
• distribute livecd and say goodbye

this is up to the presenter to decide, and also depends on availability of an overhead projector.

when I do these gigs I use projectors and slides in universities and spaces that seem formal, and prefer to just talk in less formal places.

conceptor I think always uses slides.

we will work in a computer lab, so they'll get to play with GNU/Linux (phaeronix probably) hands on, and the reson why you need 3 volunteers is to make sure they get personal attention.

for papers we could use these pamphlets and the eglug about

questions now are

• who is going to burn cds?
• who is going to print and photocopy pamphlets?
• how many pamphlets and cds should we bring

I will take care of burning the phaeronix CDs, and maybe some mandriva if you want. I can give a session about the desktop also if it is needed.

just phaeronix, I'm going there on wednesday to test the machines, I'll need a copy to make sure it will work.

if you're going to use a new release make sure to test all the basic stuff.

the desktop part is interactive, at least three volunteers will have to work on it.

I can take care of the pamphlet(s) printing and photocopying. I need to know: Which Pamphlet(s) and how much?

Which Pamphlet depends on:

1. Arabic or English
2. Level of Audience (Beginners/Intermediate/Advanced)

I think the About page needs to be updated in the section: "ما تم عمله في الأشهر الماضية"

correction as i remember exactly it was only one with 128 MB of ram and the other one is 64 MB ram. the one with 128MB ram didn't have CDROM. africano called me and i told him what happen. he said he will call them to check whats happen " he was busy so he coudn't come with us " and now we should to wait to see the new arrangement for the seminar.

10 days have passed, someone of the event volunteers should contact them.

I'm not contacting them personally. They should contact us if they want, OR you should contact them and inform us. This is MHO.

Africano came up with the idea, he is the main organizer and he is our link to them, it's up to africano to follow up and arrange, and hopefully next time he will be present so we can avoid the unessecary confusion of last time.
