Counters are either global orhistorical (broken at fixed timeslots); Agent IDsallow distributed counters to be created. Data iseither stored in a memory table, in an SQLdatabase (MySQL or PostgreSQL), or printed tostdout; recovery actions are available to avoiddata loss during DB failures. Gathering packetsoff the wire is done either using the pcap libraryor reading NetFlow packets.

RTL-check is a framework for static analysis ofprograms from a safety and security perspective.It performs analysis on RTL, which is thelow-level intermediate representation generated byGCC. This framework was created for a researchproject that deals with static analysis and memorysafety of programs developed in unsafe languagessuch as C or C++. In particular, it is targeted atdetecting buffer overflows statically and provingtheir absence. However, this framework should be useful for other projects dealing with static analysis.

Runmaint is a shell script for invoking regular jobs. It delivers the output (if any) via mail with a meaningful subject line to the people of your choice. It moves all the complexity from the crontab into an easily managed collection of scripts. Runmaint expects to be run out of cron.

samhain is a daemon that can check file integrity, search the file tree for SUID files, and detect kernel module rootkits (Linux only). It can be used either standalone or as a client/server system for centralized monitoring, with strong (192-bit AES) encryption for client/server connections and the option to store databases and configuration files on the server. For tamper resistance, it supports signed database/configuration files and signed reports/audit logs. It has been tested on Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and Unixware.

softflowd is a software flow-based network monitor. It tracks network traffic flows and report aggregate statistics as well as (optionally) export Cisco Netflow compatible datagrams. It can listen on a promiscuous network interface or read store pcap capture files, and includes a sophisticated control interface.

Stager is a system for aggregating and presenting network. Though tailored for using NetFlow data from the flow-tools package, it is generic and can be customized to present and process any kind of network statistics. The back-end collects data with flow-tools and stores reports in a database, automatically handling the aggregation of hourly statistics into days, weeks, and months. The Web frontend presents data in tables, a matrix, or plots. The reports are fully customizable, and their definitions are stored in the database.

Terminal is a modern terminal emulator for theUnix/Linux desktop, primarly for the Xfce desktopenvironment. It was developed because Xfce neededa lightweight and easy-to-use terminal emulatorthat didn't require the user to install the GNOMElibraries, but still provided a worthy alternativeto the GNOME terminal emulator, with all the bellsand whistles.

TFT Gallery is a PHP-based Web image gallery whichdoesn't need a database. Instead of using adatabase, it reads album info from the directorystructure. It features on-the-fly thumbnailcreation and caching, easy expansion of thegallery, multilingual-support, easy installation,and the ability to change the entire gallery'sappearance and layout through a single CSS file.

Libxslt is a C library for GNOME which allows developers to work with XSLT. It is based on libxml for XML parsing, tree manipulation, and XPath support. Also included is 'xsltproc', a command line XSLT processor. The library is written in plain C, making as few assumptions as possible, and sticking closely to ANSI C/POSIX for easy embedding. It should work on Linux, Unix, and Windows. Though not designed primarily with performances in mind, libxslt seems to be a relatively fast processor. It also include full support for the EXSLT set of extension functions as well as some common extensions present in other XSLT engines.

white_dune is a graphical VRML97 editor. VRML97 (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is the ISO standard for displaying 3D data over the Webvia browser plugins. It has support for animation,realtime interaction and multimedia (image, movie,sound). White_dune can read VRML97 files, display andlet the user change the scenegraph/fields, andload and store x3d (the next generation VRML XMLformat) files if configured to work with thenist.gov x3d translators. It also has support forstereoscopic view via "quadbuffer"-capable stereovisuals, and support for 3D input devices like a joystick, spaceball, or magnetic tracker.

xMule is a multi-platform clone of the popular eMule client for the eDonkey filesharing network. Currently supporting various Linux/Unix/BSD platforms, it aims at higher stability and portability than the competitors.

Yap (Yet Another Pager) is a PHP pager that supports row editing and interactive search patterns. It has two view modes, table view and detail view. The user or the referring script may specify the number of rows to display. Add, modify, and delete operations may be permitted per row. The modified data can be validated by a custom function prior to being written back to the database. It works with Mysql and MS Access (ODBC connection).

ziproxy is a forwarding (non-caching) proxy that gzips text and HTML files, and reduces the size of images by converting them to low quality JPEGs. It is intended to increase the speed for dial-up Internet connections. Most browsers support gzipped content, so Web pages appear as normal, but as they are only a fraction of their original page size, pages are much quicker to load. Even for browsers that don't support it, hints how to overcome it using SSH port forwarding are included. Images are reduced in size by an average of one third, with only marginal visible image quality loss. It should be used with inetd/xinetd, but if you can't use them, a simple replacement "netd" is provided.

FVWM is a multiple large virtual desktop window manager originally derived from twm. FVWM is intended to have a small memory footprint and a rich feature set, be extremely customizable and extendable and have a high degree of Motif mwm compatibility. FVWM is highly extensible through its module interface.
