been using Ubuntu and Ubuntu Studio 8.04 and 8.10 on an Amilo 1705 laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens)

this laptop is IMHO terrible and especially terrible for Linux, but it *is* possible to use Ubuntu on it despite a few difficulties

I would like to offer my help if anyone is having trouble with this machine

PS I'm a Special Needs teacher am interested in making some Educational software (Eng/Ar)
