Healia (http://www.healia.com), an award-winning health vertical search engine and health social network, seeks to become the ultimate gateway to high quality and personalized health information and support. We are looking for an exceptional, creative Software Development Engineer to help us build compelling Web technologies that will redefine consumer health search as we know it. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of Web product development including requirements analysis, application design, project estimation, technical documentation, development, and testing. As a core member of the development team, you will take charge of creating revolutionary applications and product enhancements that will be adopted by millions of consumers. This position requires a deep understanding of and practical experience with Web application development using open source tools and state-of-the-art software development methods and architecture. This position will report directly to the CTO of Healia and will be a major contributor to our overall product strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

* Collaboratively design, develop, test, and implement Web software products

* Identify, evaluate, and implement technologies to support Web applications and business needs

* Work within software development teams to exceed expectations

* Support day-to-day operations of the IT and business staff and support business and technology partners and vendors

Qualifications:

Ability to personally demonstrate your expertise with these technologies via demos, web sites, articles, blogs, or anything else is highly encouraged.

* At least 3+ years of work experience in web application development

* Extensive experience in DHTML (HTML/XHTML, JavaScript 1.0-1.5, CSS1 & CSS2, DOM Levels 0-2)

* Extensive experience in remote scripting & AJAX interactions (XmlHTTPRequest, iframes, node creation, JSON, etc)

* Extensive knowledge of cross-browser compatibility & browser degradation strategies

* Proven ability to design and architect complex applications involving extensive UI and application logic

* Previous work experience with client-side web standards (HTML, CSS, box model, etc)

* Previous work experience with PHP, JSP, ASP, or other similar scripting languages

* Previous work experience with Apache, server caching & proxy issues, HTTP, and other web application issues

* Comfort ability working in a Unix environment

* Deep understanding of object-oriented and event-driven programming

* BSCS/MSCS or equivalent work experience

Preferable Job Qualifications:

* Knowledge of web services (REST, SOAP, XML-RPC, etc)

* Experience with Dojo, jQuery, YUI or similar JavaScript libraries

* Experience with web frameworks such as Rails, Django, CodeIgniter, Zend Framework or related technologies.

* Knowledge of HCI and application UI design

* Strong written and verbal communication skills
