( categories: Website)

We went through the list of users to see who has earned seniority, please check the list of senior users to see if your name is there.

if your name isn't on the list and you think you should be senior according to the Member's Class Allocation Policy don't be shy shout it out loud.

anyways according to the Resource Allocation Policy Senior Users should get an @eglug.org forwarding mail address and a blog on eglug and a personal image gallery.

the blogs and image galleries are features of Drupal, check create content to use these features.

as for the email addresses please contact me to to tell me the email address you want your eglug emails forwarded to, your eglug email addresses will be loginname@eglug.org

if I don't recieve a reply from you by sunday I'll point your new address to the addresses you used to register on the EGLUG website.

also remember senior members areallowed to ask for webspace and a subdomain to host any FOSS related activities that require a standalone website and cannot be integrated with the eglug website.

cheers, Alaa

What is the purpose of claiming our forwarding email address unless we are able either to send and receive

Do we suppose to use a fake SMTP server for sending e-mails Otherwise changing the mail header

IMO I wonder if the appropriate eglug hosting server allow us for creating such an e-mail accounts for eglug senior members. SO what about if we installed such an Open Source software like OpenWebmail / SquirrelMail / Hrone or such a thingie

BTW, I'm not againist the current procedure but JUST wondered.

I used to be indecisive ... but now I'm not so sure

you recieve emails on any email account you already have, and you can send through any smtp server you have access too, if you don't have access to any you can always run one on your GNU/Linux installation.

EGLUG does not provide you with a mailbox or an SMTP relay thats what the Resource Usage Policy says.

sending a From: header that does not equal the hostname of your mail server is not faking its perfectly normal and allowed in the relevant RFCs, how else would virtual hosting work?

Moderators and admins will get eglug mailboxes that they can use using POP or IMAP or webmail.

the reason why this needs to be limited to certain group of user is how limited the resources are.
