centralized authentication and user information

it's a bad habbit i know but i just tend to see what's good at the M$ world and try to implement it, so i started with dynamic dns and dhcp.
and now i want to implement an active directory.
active directory is the M$ implementation of ldap, the active directory holds users information (info and passwords) and all workstations in the domain authenticate against it also the mail server (M$ exchange)
so i will try to implement this but i have no idea what to do, anyways we'll see (hope someone helps)
