I know we said this before this time its for real.

elections where delayed because of me finding no time to write the ranking vote module, then they where delayed because we waited until the upgrade to drupal 4.5 was done. then it was delayed even further because we dleayed the upgrade until we moved to a new host, the move to a new host was delayed until we could find a decent host and after finding one it was delayed until we could find a functioning credit card.

anyways all of this is over now, we moved, we did the upgrade and the ranking vote module is done (you can test it yourself).

remember our rules, only senior members get to run for moderatorship and number of moderators and minimum votes are calcualted from the number of senior users.

so in order to have proper elections we need to know who is a senior user and who isn't. the process described in the Member Class Assignment Policy involves calculating a score based on all sorts of contributions.

I feel at the moment that this is overkill, my suggestion is that for the first run anyone who contributed to an event or a published article be considered a senior member, the list of senior members according to this rule is here.

what do you think?

I don't think applying the rules will add any new senior members but it will subtract some, but I'll do a check anyway.

BTW if you feel you should be a Senior Member and your name is not in the list please post a comment here.

cheers, Alaa

anyone can help more, and everyone should.

senior is just a measure of how active you are, please read the Member Class Assignment Policy it clearly indicates what a senior means.

this time around we gave anyone who contirbuted articles or participated in activities seniority since the community is still too young.

if you feel you feel that according to these rules you should be a senior user please tell us, if not then please work hard on it, a little bit of contribution and activity is all we ask for.

You actually don't need a blog to add new intresting topics. If you have something FOSS inclined and intresting you can initiate a discussion on it in the forums or if its an article you can add it to the articles.

well then if you start interesting discussions on the forum or add new material to the wiki you'll be doing the community a great service since as you say the website is not as dynamic as it should be.

Alright. At the moment, I am an administrator, for no really good reason to begin with.

Now that we have elections, I think it is a good time to step down. I lack the time to be held accountable for the site. Besides, if something goes wrong, I'm more likely to be the cause than the one to fix it.
