hi guys is there a way of getting the system hardware information? from the command line (init 3)

I'm thinking of trying some thin client stuff, and I think the most suitable option for booting is to use a boot ROM.

1. Are they available in Egypt ?? if so, where do I get them ? (Computer stores/Electronics stores??)
2. Which cards do support them ?? I only know of the D-Link
3. How do I program them ? (are they EEPROM or do they require a UV-programmer or what?)
4. Do you suggest any other alternatives ??

I was wondering which model of D-Link DSL modems (sold in Egypt and you have a first hand experience with) features an easy to use web interface for the firewall ? I used to have an Alcatel modem without a web interface for the firewall and setting up a firewall on it was an impossible task, and there was no documentation for the telnet interface at all.

I have ES2839/2839 superlink modem - it doesn't support linux but I have found a page in the net solving the problem. I have S3 Trio V+ VGA card , I installed linux mandrake it's not functionaly installed "VGA card not working ... command screen only" ... i used XFdrake command and set the VGA as S3 Trio V+ but it's not working .... then i trayed to set it as VESA default driver but it's not working too ....

how can i use creative digital cam on linux (model 350) ???? i tried a lot but i couldn't configure it as it is configured as a scanner. WHAT CAN I DO

My mouse is detected as a 2 buttons serial mouse. I am used to this detection even under Mandrake (I use FedoraCore2 (Home)) but Mandrake can make it and know that it is a three buttons mouse not two. In FedoraCore2 it is a 2 buttons mouse (it detects it as a 2 buttons mouse) not three as is the case. In RH 9,0 I used to make the correction and tell the computer it is a 3 buttons mouse. Now in FedoraCore2 I have nothing to make the fix (to my knowledge) so what should I do to make it know it is a 3 buttons not a 2 buttons mouse. My mouse is 3 buttons serial mouse.

I dont like the emulation idea.

My speakers give me a noisy sound even if I am not playing anything? that is my speakers (بتوشششش)and I dont know why? I have played a little with the volume control and could make it lower, but it is there and I think it stops when I play something. I use Fedora Core 2.

I have contacted them, and they said it works fine!!!! But I have noticed that EGYPT is not listed in the list given when you initiate the command $ man sm56 How may I know this? And, could any one here make use of this driver given by motorolla for RH 9.0?

after checking this one out on linmodem.org, i gather it works under linux, without any drivers, it's supposed to work just like a serial modem, but after checking out the COM ports under windows, and trying every ttyS* all i get is a message saying that the modem is locked (busy) ?? any ideas ya ppl ? ps: plz make the reply as simple as possible it's for my little brother trying out linux :)
