I wanted to thank everyone who made it (and who tried but couldn't make it) to the small gathering we had next to Saqyet El-Saw (ساقية الصاوي).
I was delighted to see the enthusiasm and interest in this initiative. I feel much more confident now about the the support that this initiative will get from the open source community in Egypt.
I wanted to provide you with some resources that you can use to know more about the project and start getting involved:
1. OLPC's website (http://laptop.org): This is the gate to many resources, and most of the links below can be reached through it.
2. OLPC Wiki (http://wiki.laptop.org/wiki/Main_Page): This is were a lot of information resides. Keep an eye on this, and feel free to edit/add information.
3. OLPC Mailing Lists (http://mailman.laptop.org/mailman/listinfo)
4. Fedora's OLPC main page (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/OLPC): This is the OLPC-specific page at Fedora. Mostly focused on software of course.
5. Fedora's OLPC Mailing List (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/OLPC/Mailing_Lists)
There is also a mailing list that I created, called egypt-opensource@laptop.org. We could start using this list as a way to communicate. I know some of you raised concern about it being called egypt, so I'm working on creating an alias named arab-opensource@laptop.org to encourage more arab speaking open-sourcers to participate.
You can access that list by following this link: http://laptop.org/mailman/listinfo/egypt-opensource
Please feel free to send me any questions you have, but it would be great if you can post them to the mailing list, this way we can all discuss them together ;)
P.S. Apologies for reposting, I wanted to make sure the information is posted where everyone can see it. Seems like postings to the Misc forum don't show up on the main page.
Done,
Thx for pointing out ;-) i should write a report i promise this weekend ISA
peace

One Laptop Per Child - repost
This is a very good and noble project. Underprivileged children will be given an opportunity to get an education which in their current situation is not available to them like a hair removal treatment is to some people.
Remarkable
I know this is comment spam, but I think it is a genuine work of art. Let's keep it (at least this one).
After all, it's important not to understate the importance of hair removal treatment to some people, more important than access to computing in some cultures.

I'm glad the Phaeronix Foundation endorses the right of hairy people.

It still didn't show up on main page...
... and I bumped into this post by coincidence so is it possible that many people didn't even see it?
