Hi all,

How do i use the black box?

thnx all

Salamo 3alaikom,

As far as I know, blackbox is a Window manager, ie it draws borders icons within any window in X. This means that if you are running GNOME, you should kill metacity and try to run blackbox. You could run as standalone without any desktop environment via the login manager by choosing it from the login manager be it kdm or gdm (I don't have any experience with xdm).

No, i mean isn there any menus anything to control it?

alaa
blackbox has a meny, but whether this menu will automaticaly have all the entries in your distros menu depends on many factor.

so lets start with the obvious one, what is your distro??

P.S. do consider trying PekWM, it uses less resources than BlackBox, has more features and looks better.

cheers,
Alaa

I am on Mandrake 9.1

alaa
then Mandrake should have already configured the menu, just click the right mouse button on the background (if it doesn't work try the other mouse buttons).

cheers,
Alaa

Salamo 3alaikom,

Is there a man blackbox command? How about reading the manual on the website?

I will remove the blackbox

habdin
Salamo 3alaikom,

I think that this is a so wrong attitude. I think you should tackle the problem not remove the software. Try to read a little about blackbox, or whichever Window manager you intend to install. This could help you in tackling it and its problems.
