ya 3am GladiatoR this is ur 16 thread on this forum
haven't we said before to try to search before asking and making new threads everytime u meet a problem

and it is not a problem it is just a bad config for ur bootloader

is it lilo or grub

i think since u r talking about Mandrake

alll u have to do is to edit the file /etclilo.conf and u'll find there a sentence looks like " timeout="30""

change this number to 300

and again PLEASE SEARCH THE FORUM BEFORE MAKING NEW THREADS

jo-jo
hey , what boot loader u use ?? anyway according to the bootloader go to grub.conf or /etc/lilo.conf and change the timeout variable to what you like but in lilo if you want to make it 30 seconds for example , then set the timeout to 300 .
then do not forget to run the boot loader . in lilo by doing
#lilo
#lilo -v

Safrout ... belmonasba i sent u twice to ur e-mail 3la 7ekayet Mandrake 9.1 or 9.2 and u didnt reply at alllll

is it lilo or grub
how can i know my bootloader ( sorry but i am newbie in Linux)?

alll u have to do is to edit the file /etclilo.conf and u'll find there a sentence looks like " timeout="30""
where i have to edit it ?

thnx in advance

jo-jo
while installation you must have been asked for what to install lilo or grub..
anyway , as root run

#detectloader

and it should tell you .

where i have to edit it ?

what do you mean ??? for example if it is lilo do this :

ee /etc/lilo.conf

where ee is an editor command it may be emacs , vi , nano ..etc as you like...
but if it was grub .. then the conf file AFAIK is located in /boot/grub/
mainly : /boot/grub/menu.lst
so do

vi /boot/grub/menu.lst

hope that helps

note that if it is grub and you changed the configuration file

then you have to run

# grub-install /dev/hdn

where n (a,b,c, or d) according to you hard disk

GladiatoR
