i wonder what is the differance between GNOME and KDE ?

use both and tell us
both r WMs each has its features and also its disadvantages; so u who should decide which ius better to u.
BTW there r lots of other WM not only GNOME and KDE give ur self a chance and try others too.

gnome/kde/xfce4 are NOT WMs, they are DE.
gnome is based on GTK+, C code with some sick OOP (C doesnt really support OOP so you can guess it kinda suck to do OOP in it).
kde is based on QT, pure C++ and OOP.
my personal choice is kde-3.1.2 (or kde-3.2-cvs).
