not a bad idea, phpBB looks like a very good script and it is Free Software, but it will take much effort to upgrade and keep all references and links to older articles.

We were thinking alot about that, but as Alaa said, references and links are something we care about, specially that some people made links to some posts on outside sites.

hmm how about adding it as a new forum? a leave this to be read-only?
i think converting the users db shouldnt be hard, i think it wouldnt even take time to make a script that converts the vBB db to phpBB.

The script isn't a problem, as it is there already in phpBB.

But it still needs some preparation, because many things in the site depends on vBulletin DB.

Why should we use phpbb while VB is a lot better?

VB is the best and most stable ........ :)

I'd recommend phpBB but it all comes back to the administrator as he is going to be the one upgrading it.
