If it takes Alicia 3 hours to paint a fence, and it takes Mark 6 hours to complete the same job. How long would it take both of them working together at their normal paces to complete the same job?

The correct answer (I think) is 2 hours. Why? In the first hour, Alicia will paint 1/3 fence and Mark will paint 1/6 of the fence so by addition we will get that in the first hour 3/6 of the fence will be painted. This means that half of the fence will be painted in 1 hour. So the other half will be painted in the other hour. Simple isn't it?
