Please if you can vote for this bug in mozilla do it. You can't copy text from a textbox in a webpage if the encoding is not utf-8 and paste it in another textbox in mozilla, It appears reversed.
It won't take much, Since It's really a barrier against proper Arabic support in mozilla.

ya gama3a this is quite important.
at the moment mozilla is the only browser where you can copy arabic text and paste it into OpenOffice and it is by far the most popular free software browser.
if it does not have semi-decent arabic support there is no hope for a free Arabic desktop

cheers,

BTW Ive no problem copying Arabic text from mozilla with any arabic codepage encoding to OOo.
Also texts with UTF8 encoding paste very well in other programmes when copied from Mozilla.

dunno about you, copying text from konquerer and pasting into OpenOffice did not work here, uniball confirmed this on two different distros I think.

the mozilla bug applies to arabic code pages only not to UTF-8
when you copy Arabic text and paste it anywhere including inside mozilla itself the order of the letters is reversed.

when you paste it in OO.o it looks like its correct but if you try to edit the line or flip its direction the order will be reversed.

the bug was reported and was recreated by many different people.

check the bugzilla link

dunno about you, copying text from konquerer and pasting into OpenOffice did not work here, uniball confirmed this on two different distros I think.I tested this on RHL and FC (Konqueror 3.1.4-6)
- openned aljazeera in konq and copied some arabic text
- openned OOo and pasted it
- editted them with no problem

when you paste it in OO.o it looks like its correct but if you try to edit the line or flip its direction the order will be reversedactually the announcement was not clear or didnt state this clrearly. I was just trying to copy and paste but do not edit.

The only one I ve now is the one with Mozilla itself with Arabic CPs and with Mozilla (up to 1.6 from SeaMonkey) and OOo with Arabic CPs too.

> openned aljazeera in konq and copied some arabic text
this is strange, Can you send a screenshot ?
I tried with: Debian, Mandrake, Redhat 9.0, FC1 and non of them is producing anything except question marks.

We are going offtopic, This thread is a call for votes not to discuss OOo and konq. there is probably another thread.
