If your are intersted in Programming why don't give it a shot !.
try C,C++,Perl, or any GUI toolkits (GTK,QT), for me I started Qt programming a couple of days since I know C++(classes, composition, inheritance, encapsulation) , WELL this is what`ve been told :)
Or how about Linux-networking or stuff like that samaba ,...
or networking in General ,Ofcourse under linux it will be wonderfull, connecting windoz PC`s to other Linux boxes or .....etc ..
or maybe you wanna be a Linux tweaker(tips, tweaks, configurations)play with your distro and you`ll learn something
Well this is what am gonna do !

If you really want to learn linux then you have to
use the one true distro:
debian
and the one true editor:
vim
and the one true shell:
zsh
and the one true windowmanager:
windowmaker

Bash has very good docs IMO, and the Advanced Bash scripting guide is superb, its docs could use a bit of humor but then again you'll get the suit wanabes shouting how it isn't serious so can't please them all.
>better prompts
examples???
mine gives me different colors for each state of login (is it SU is it ssh) the current directory color differs according to what permissions I have over the directory and last but not least it shows me the return code of the previous command.
>better command history access
examples examples???
>rm * will produce a warning
ever heard of alias rm="rm -i" works fine for me.
>print

>better output/input redirection
