Well, I think this is a good news!
If they did something good the linux developers will make a better one ;)

--->If they did something good
if they did aslan
what we heard about 2003 server showed that there won't be better OS for long years but what
lots of error msg and faults during the first days of using it

linux is very much centralized around linus
openbsd around a guy called theo
netbsd around a company called wasabi
freebsd is the least centralized around a single person or entity
if linux loose linus , linux is severely hit
same for openbsd if it looses theo (this would probably kill it)
netbsd if it looses wasabi
freebsd seem to me to most immune
netbsd is also in a good situation
i really want to try netbsd one day
i also, wonna be more OS independent
i kinda hated sometimes why i see many ppl
sooo veryyyyy pro-linux
technically i have no clue why it could be better or worst then freebsd or netbsd
and most freebsd or *bsd vs linux article that i read are too non-technical
not that i would easily understand the technical stuff, but i think it would be interesting
for exmaple part of the kernl is called scheduler
process scheduler (which process het a higher priority to be excuted first and stuff)
the new linux kernel 2.6 uses a new scheduler
and netbsd uses a different scheduling technique
from linux
i tried to read such stuff, even u dont know much
u get the idea if u re-read, and check few terms in google, it's very interesting stuff
and it give a better differiention between OSes
i remember when i used to google for that
i saw that for example, windows printing theme
is way/ligthyears/(windows is a ferrari, linux is and old lady) ahead of linux
i am not sayin so to bash linux, i am sayin so to point out that in some area and for some task
windows actually offer better solutions technically
many of us just dont know probably because of the way we use the computer
fa ya3ni , windows vs linux , there is more to it

actualy freebsd has the most closed development process.
if something happens to Linus there might be some forks and turf wars but it won't die, and it won't severly affect the system after all other kernel maintainers are already doing a job similar to Linus's.
with the huge number of developers involved in Linux, and with its status as one of the most important if not the most important components of free software it is hard to imagine a slow down in development.
cheers,
Alaa
