vbulletin 2.3.2 is available & this forum is using vb 2.3.0
so what about purchasing the new 1 ?

phpBB still owns, i've always hated vBulletin since v1 :p

I sort of agree that paying money to upgrade the forum is a joke when a free and opensource alternative exists. Also a vbulletin_to_phpBB tool also exists that its author claims that the last version doesn't have any issues.

I think if an upgrade will ever be decided, it is better on an opensource alternative.

May be if we could lend the guys our hardware for a week or less they could mirror and test the migration to phpBB before applying it to the working machine.

No, no one will answer that. It was debated several months ago. Search the forum, try "phpBB" as a keyword.

I used to think that people should upgrade their software when they feel that the current versions are not satisfactory. Unfortunately, I was wrong. You should update your packages to fix bugs (most important, security related ones) and to check the enhanced feature, rewritten ones. About the forum, I like phpbb, after looking into lots of other forums. Invision is also a good one, but phpbb has alot of support.
