i work on redhat 9 ,when i install mysql 5.1 from file mysql-5.1.7-beta-linux-x86_64-glibc23.tar this problem face me

i extract file normal: tar -xvzf mysql-5.1.7-beta-linux-x86_64-glibc23.tar
move it to /usr/local
make shortcut: ln -s mysql-5.1.7-beta-linux-x86_64-glibc23.tar mysql

But when i type:/usr/local/mysql > /scripts/mysql_install_db

i found that error message:./bin/my_print_defaults: cannot execute binary file Neither host '?' nor 'localhost' could be looked up with
./bin/resolveip Please configure the 'hostname' command to return a correct hostname.
If you want to solve this at a later stage, restart this script with
the --force option
