View Full Version : trouble compiling pekwm

whirlpool
hello

After the immense pressure, in favour of pekwm, that two guys here made (homa 3arfeen nafsohom) I thought lets give it a try. Well after installing the necessary development packages( I am mdk9.1) and running ./configure the following error message appeared:

checking for XpmReadFileToPixmap in -lXpm... no
configure: error: Could not find XpmReadFileToPixmap in -lXpm.

./configure stops after that. I searched google like mad, and still can't find a solution.

There is a mailing list for pekwm, but there seems to be no mailing list archives. So I couldn't find anything to search for, before I ask the guys at the pekwm mailing list. I also used urpmf to search for any package in my system the provides XpmReadFileToPixmap or anything similar.

I think you'll need something along these lines:

http://freshmeat.net/projects/imlib/?topic_id=809

Standard with most distros, I should think.

uniball
urpmi libxpm-devel

alaa
you need libxpm-devel installed.

and BTW ./configure will give you a horribly under featured PekWM, try

./configure --enable-harbour --enable-keygrabber --enable-menus --enable-shape

you'll also need a good theme.

and don't forget to mess around with the config files.

cheers,

Ok, thanks it did compile. URPMI can't see my 3rd CD, I will have to check my synthesis files.

Anyways, I can't tell you what I think of PekWM now.
