i want to get a fast internet accout so as to be able 2 download linux myself.

so what do think about DSL,ISDN,Leasedlines,Satallites

& which of them give a fixed ip address.
&prices &provider companies

DSL: 256Kbit/s costs 374LE/month
You can get fixed IP for more money.

DSL: 512Kbit/s costs 490LE/month
And you can also get fixed IPs as above.

all u can afford/get is DSL

an ADSL 256 will be just fine , contact m0h here on this borad , they got me one and i'm happy with them . :)

Although ISDN is cheaper... there is a trick !!
You'll pay phone costs as long as ur online....

So what's the point of getting broadband if you're paying phones !!!

You can also build a network & share the connection + costs with your neighbors...

I am assuming 256 for downloading, what is the uploading speed ? and how about SDSL ?

Off topic question .. any restrictions on IP Phones/VoIP over DSL in Egypt ? Legal Issues ?

256 download, and 64 upload. (in my company at least) which is 4:1 ratio.

IMHO that's what keeps us behind... instead of improving & trying to keep up with the competition - we ban & prohibit !

btw... does that mean that international calls through MobiNil or Click GSM are prohibited ??? I don't think they use Telecom Egypt facilities !!

All cellular phones operators are connected to the PSTN (the fixed telephones network), or how do u think u can call a fixed telephone from ur mobile? Anyway, our two operators are probably using Telecom Egypt facilities to make international calls at the end.
