Hi,

divx? are you having problems playing divx on linux? or there is a new divx thing out there?!

according to my experience, if you are using mplayer, you are using the best player ever existed in this whole world (comparing it to MS media player) and I never had any problems watching divx movies with it.

Anyways, if there is a new codec, you will find it on the mplayer website (can't remember i now, but easy to find) , and you just have to uncompress it and put it in he codecs directory or the win32 directory! is it (/lib/win32?)

the site is packed with information..

Maybe my reply doesn't make sense, but you haven't described a problem to be solved :)

salam

P.S. what are you doing online guys, don't you have exams to prepare for?!! :P

you should try avifile player (aka aviplay)

IMO its playback is superior in quality to mplayer, and it manages broken files better, it hardly ever gets audio/vedio out of sync (mplayer is getting better in this area and since my latest hardware update the problem disapeared).

its defaults are better than mplayer, mplayer has many cool features burried in the man page, aviplay uses these things by default (like choosing the resolution mode closest to your movies width/height value).

and does not rely on hardware acceleration for scaling.

however it doesn't support all codecs and all file formats, so I have to keep mplayer around.

to me xine is like the pheonix and el 7'eil el wafi
I never managed to make it work let alone get good play back from it (and the default GUI SUUUUUUUUUUUKKCS).

although I hear its the best when it comes to old hardware.

cheers,
