View Full Version : The Arabic Open CD
ikhnaton2
Dear colleagues,
This's another suggestion to have our Arabic Open CD like The Open CD (http://www.theopencd.org/)or Open Source Software CD (http://osscd.sunsite.dk/).
Why?
Include Arabic eBooks and tutorials.
Include open sourced and free software that concern the Arabic user.
Plus the main objective of any Open CD projects:
Introduce users to FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) by including FOSS for Windows and Linux users.
Include the last updated versions of FOSS on regular time bases.
I've one problem now in my mind, where to host the ISO file?
I'll begin to make a list of software that could be included on this CD. Your contributions, suggestions and comments are welcomed.
Regards,
marr

ikhnatoon , you being here and with such spirt and initiative will drive a lot of activties and make me more active :)
As I told you in the PM I am getting my own server , and if you wish I can host ISOs for you.

http://myacdsee.sourceforge.net/

I'm really thankful for ur kind words but let me tell u a secret (which'll not be a secret anymore), I'm still afraid that all this suggestions and talking go in air. We still didn't get out things in the real world except 2 meetings
Beside I myself is not active all the time. Sometimes I prefer to stay away in the dark corner with my music like Dr_Tu and just watching. Nowadays, I'm active and wish great people here in Linux-Egypt get up with more activities like in the old days. I just wish that we can depend on each other in our activities and it doesn't go down when someone is down. In contrast it keep going on and up and also help that man to discover himself. Anyway, I talked too much. It's just a good dream of perfect team  .

Hi Ikhnaton2
That's a really good draft man ;) covered all the important points in linux and organized very well, but I would like to suggest that we add a item for latest games for Linux (linux games ) or the windows configured games I'v heard that some of them really run on most linux distributions like doom 3 or half life 2 because every New comer from windows always ask for games even he play games or not :) , also lets tell them about wine and it's support
and the other emulator what's his name (that new one for games ),also how about adding a part for useful links and groups activites
let's add some fun
ikhnaton2
I would like to suggest that we add a item for latest games for Linux (linux games ) or the windows configured gamesGood point, however I don't know about open source games. I don't think that there's Doom 3 edition as opened sourced . So, please suggest names and if u have weblinks, that'll be great.
also lets tell them about wine and it's support and the other emulators Got it, will be added.
also how about adding a part for useful links and groups activites
How could we add this????
Epoch
Hi ramy
About the games it's still just an idea (http://linux.tlk.fr/games/Powermanga/download/ for example) and much more can be found on search engines and about doom 3 and the half life 2 I don’t know if they are dedicated fro Linux as an open source games or not that’s a good point.
also how about adding a part for useful links and groups activites
How could we add this????
Like telling them about linux groups which have some activates like seminars ,free courses, installation feasts and also when it will be held. Also for the people how couldn’t make it we could cover the event some how it could be added to NEWS Or EVENTS topic or something like that
And about the links part it could be divided into many sections or it could be added to an exciting item like when we in the graphics section we add some links for the program download page or tools that could be added and so on
Ramy this magazine project must have some number of people to work on it so lets see how many people interested and the topics they could cover it first and then decide the subjects
And about me I'm preparing the dark corner (just kidding I will try my best  )
ikhnaton2
About the game part, I agree with u that it's important to some users. But I still don't know anything about open source games. So I'll appreciate if u or anybody here has a suggestion for a good game that he like to add to this CD.
Also, I'll try the link u put and see what games could be downloaded from there.
For the news about activities and links, I think its suitable place in the magazine not on the CD.
Ramy this magazine project must have some number of people to work on it so lets see how many people interested and the topics they could cover it first and then decide the subjects Here, execuse me, I'm totally confused. What're u talking about, the CD or the magazine? For the magazine, I think u know where is its thread. Authors are already knowing what r they going to write in the magazine and I expect their input max by June 20. (u r writing ur article, right?)
But if u mean the CD, that's the purpose of this thread that all people share with their interested software that want to build on one CD. It's still under construction and I didn't begin in building it.

sorry for the distureb u know my mind is so busy now try understad what i mean and put them in the right place for me please, esta7mlny shoaya
(u r writing ur article, right?) i stopped for few days cause i am ill and u know i have to study but i dont think it gonna take a long time from me to write it dont worry my friend.
dr_tux
all this in 3 dayes asibko 3 eyyam yehsal da kolloh;)
about the draft i see good software, but most of them are included with most linux distributions,so i suggest to have onother things for linux users , for example abiword, scribus and so on which isn't included with meny linux distros
the games is good idea but i don't know any open sourced game exept frozzen buble :)
