if we have two sticks with the same dimentions
each one of them take one hour to be full burned
the burning operation is with constant rate
regardless the direction of burning
so , with the burning operation and only the burning operaiton
how can we calculate fourty five (45) minutes .
note :
for those who know the answer honorly let others try ,and do not burn :D the conundrum .
peace be upon you

alaa
what about this one, if you have two sections of a forum, one called Linux-Support/General and the other called Community-Center/General-Chat and you have an extremly off topic question in mind and the rate of posting is constant how to determine which forum to post to??
note:
for those who know and respect guidlines honorly let others try, and do not burn them.

mmm, could I break the sticks ? Oh, you said deduce that with the burning operation only.

u didnt specify whether after these 45 mins u want them fully burned or not so I guessed not.
So I could place one of the sticks at a right angle to the other stick and apart one-quarter from one of its sides and then then start firing from the other side.
When fire reaches the angled stick then 45 mins passed or calculated.

the tools to do so .

^ after 30 mins start firing here
well
what if we burn one of the sticks from both sides; this way it would burn with double the rate; or it would take only 30 mins and at the same time burn the other from one side only
After 30 mins we have the following:
one of the sticks is fully burned
the other is half-burned and it still needs another 30 mins to burn; so we can burn the other side to again double the rate of burning and hence half the time required to 15 mins.
now we have 30 + 15 = 45 mins
