While working in the internet a new window opened "rhn-applet". Does any one know what is this? is it Red Hat Network thing? But why it opens whithout asking me? How can I deactivate it?

AFAIK the rhn appelete is supposed to notify you of critical updates and allow you o easily install them.

not sure if it stills works seeing that redhat is dropping support for its RedHat Linux distro.

wait for a redhatter to give you more help.
