Hi all
i have installed Linux mandrake and i cant find the driver for my modem to linux where my modem is external modem and is
conexant HCF V90 Data Fax Voice USB modem
i hope that anyone can provide me a site including its driver
eventually this is my first participation here in this great forum which is really very wonderful

okay ... i ve followed a link that was shown in a previous thread and i have now downloaded a file
hcfpcimodem-0.99mbsibeta02123100.tar
so what i have to do afterwards?
sorry but i am still a new user for linux and i hope u can help me ..i dont know anything about Kernel ..which i read in a thread that i use it in installing the driver

nonono don't use this driver
this is for PCI modems, your modem is a USB modem
you need to find the apropriate driver for your USB modem.
I'm not sure you'll find much info here about USB modems, try to search google for that.
tab3an buying a USB modem is a total waste of money, you could get and External Serial modem for a similar price, and external serial modems work everywhere and don't even need drivers on GNU/Linux.

bs i already have bought this modem !!!!!!!!!!!!
so i dont think that i would buy a serial modem coz i already bought this one and i dont know really if serial modem is better or not but i dont think its a total waste of money at all to buy a external USB modem and its working so great on Windows XP but i am trying now to find a driver for it to linux

You could return the USB modem and get the serial one instead. The salesman won't object on that as long as you are taking something instead. Besides, the serial modem should work on Windows XP too.
