Can any one here give us a slight idea about the internet backbone in egypt , where , when and who ? please

we'd like to know the history that we wanna change .

Re. the backbone in Egypt. etc.

Alright; let's follow a small little data packet as it traverses the local network then; nothing better than an example to illustrate, I think.

Let's say you ping www.cnn.com.

1. Your networking code in the kernel generate an ICMP packet of type echo-request
2. The modem transforms this into an analog signal
3. Telecom Egypt employs lots of minimum wage modulators/demodulators; these are recent university graduates who sit and listen to your packets, write them down (with paper and pencil) and whistle back at your modem.
4. All traffic in Egypt, even if the endpoint is also local, goes through servers in New York or San Francisco.
5. The minimum wage modulators/demodulators then encapsulate the data packets (this is called the snail mail protocol, btw) in larger packets called 'envelopes'. The Snail Mail M[TR]U is, of course, a large multiple of the IP M[TR]U for the sake of economies of scale.
6. Having thus encapsulated your precious ICMP packet, the Snail Mail Packet in its envelope is then mailed to the Egyptian embassy in New York and/or San Francisco. This is the same mail system we use for normal mail, except since TE is a government company, they don't have to pay for postage.
7. The Egyptian embassy in New York has 14 super-fast 56k connections to a local ISP; when they get Snail Mail envelopes, they open them, sort out the various different IP packets, and hand them over to the New York-based (Egyptian) minimum wage modulators demodulators. These are the same as the ones in Egypt, except they wear baseball caps.
8. When the Minimum Wage Modulators/Demodulators in New York have finished whistling your IP packets into the phone lines at their ISP, they then go home and read the foreign edition of Al Ahram.

NB: This step-by-step account of the internet backbone in Egypt covers only outgoing traffic; you can reverse the order to visualise what happens with incoming.

And THIS is why it takes 14 frigging years to download one single stupid mp3 on Egyptian 'dialup'.

And just so you know, DSL works like this too. Only difference is, the Snail Mail packets are sent by DHL. See? DSL, DHL? They think they can fool us, huh?

I whistle 1200 baud. How much can I make per month ?

True True , and you are a networking wizard , you figured that out and you actually could write it down , letter by letter or more professionally bit by bit , all the way from your brains down your fingers onto your keyboard , and onto the LeeNAX ejibt forums and moving your right hand to the mouse and left click after some x,y movements to a send buttom ( this is getting better) , and its a hit , the action performed is moved to the php script that the php module reads handlesit to the apache webserver and some HTML re-arranging so it'd to appear better .
yeah man you are Gr8 , you actually did all that , i hope they understand , RESPECTS

but oh , you didnt mention those echolen softwares running on backbone routers grabbing packets analyzing for patterns and strings defined by federal law as important and performing the usual , tracing and logging procedures resulting in revealing the new al-qaeda or just wasting of time, money,CPU time and bandwidth , some papers and pencils , brain cells , coffee , light , ah , i have a lot to say , but this just does it :)

redhat_Linux
i wouldnot replay to this thread till u said echlon now i wanna u all to ping 0.0.0.0 and tell me what dos will tell u and what teminal will tell u linux and windows almost al networkers here know that 0.0.0.0 is saved for intrenal use and check blah blah blah what ever MCSE books saying so CCNA SAYING SO i wann u all to start serach for that what is 0.0.0.0 and who use it and why

i suggest to put it in anew thread but some one here getangry from me coz i did it be4 peace man

I think its going offtopic. jitter pointed out the terrible performance of Telecom.

Something has to be done about it....something !
