all,

i have RH8 linux server, while trying to enable XWindows emmulator to connect to the sever, i had to use XDM

normally xdm use gnome GUI (which i hate as it is like windows GUI ) usally i use KDE, but in this case i use GNOME

i noticed that the system is running out of memeory if any of the gnome_windows is running !

i checked that by using top command and sort processes up on RAM usage, i was shocked, it was taking 1.6 GB of RAM !!!!!!!

what i had done is to use old xterm or konsole of kde as a terminal

anyone know why this happen in RH 8 ??
is it a know bug or it is still found in RH 9 ??

need yr help if u know about that

he wanted it to be fast and take less memory, i gave him the solution..

Check top code and how it report the memory, it is different than UNIX.
