salamo 3alyko ,
ok , i wanted 2 upgrade the kernel from 2.4.20 to 2.6.0 for RH9.0 , so i got the source and the patch and init modules tools files and it went good with the process , but it showed me problem in "initrd" file ..
so , tell me what is it , and if i still needs any other files 2 complete the upgrade ..

Yes, you need at least two things. Check the Changes file in the documentation folder in the new kernel package you got from the internet. It tells you exactly what you need and where to get them. Look at this also, it may give you a hint.

you need to show us a more detailed error message.
but basicly if you did the kernel by hand you probably didn't do an initrd, but if you did make sure you have ext2 fs support enabled and ram disk support.

No one can guess what went wrong with ur initrd. Care to give the exact error?
