Well , I have an idea which will need some cooperation, but it doesn't need much experience..
As you know within a couple of months we will have the new KDE 3.0 which will hopefully support Arabic and facilitate using our language in many apps.. The expected scenario of the action of each of us is:
- Each one will go download the KDE sources ( quite a large download)
- Each of us will try compiling the sources, facing some problems, trying to solve or search for a solution. The compile process itself is a lengthy procedure ( I remember that when KDE 2 appeared it took my PC > 12 hours working in compiling after some problems were already solved. I expect a longer compile time with the new version)
- Compiling the new KDE will need compiling QT3 beforehand , another lengthy process , with possible mistakes , problems...
What I suggest is to arrange a group such that :
- each member will download part of the sources ( saving some downloads )
- each member will compile part of the sources for a particular distro
- the previous step requires exchange of mandatory parts needed for compilation of every other piece.
- when the group finishes the job ( which is now divided between multiple pc's ) the finished job with eventual customization to suit the arabic language and Egyptian locale is transformed into a localized rpm suitable for us all...
- this might be distributed with magazines or left by Mr. Ibrahim for all of us to have a copy
In short I'm aiming at doing the customization job centrally and providing it in a ready form for the group . In addition I'm aiming at dividing lengthy download and lengthy compile procedures between multiple members, having multiple PCs' power united and best of all creating a nucleus for a group work in a simple project which will be able to conduct some serious stuff
Finally this is just a suggestion waiting for further feedback by the group, any addition or criticism is more than welcome...
