View Full Version : Errors during filesystem check while booting

NewComer
While booting with old kernel 2.2.12 I get the following message

Warning...fsck.ext3 for device /dev/hda6 exited with signal 4 [FAILED]

/dev/hda6 is my root partition, when dropped to shell and running fsck with no arguments I get the same message:

fsck.ext3 for device /dev/hda6 exited with signal 4

I can browse the root partition using cd with no problems

checking man page of fsck one finds that signal 4 stands for filesystem errors that are left uncorrected.

Having no problem booting using kernel 2.4, waiting for help!

Salamo 3alaikom,

Are you trying to run kernel 2.2 for your modem? I guess you can try to go into single user mode and try to check the disk from there.

Salam.

Yeah, the same old boring story, the kernel worked fine on MDK 9.2 and RH 9 but having problems with FC 1.
