i have set my default encoding in Firebird to Arabic ( windows1256)

but i have noticed a starnge problem that when i open an arabic page like ww.linux-egypt.org or www.linux-egypt.org/index the fonts r ok and i can read arabic even if i opened www.masrawy.com

but if i tried to open anythread inside linux-egypt like for an example an Announcements written by Mr. Linux-info the encoding changes itself to western again and i can't view the arabic letters

is those threads' encoding is not set to arabic or what?

i mean as i know the a webpage tells the browser what encoding to use

is those thread not configured well so they can't tell the browser to use the arabic encoding and instead use the western ecnoding

This is a problem inherent to Firebird, not present in mozilla. I don't know what is the origin of this problem.

do u mean that when u set ur defualt encdoing to arabic it never changes at all????

I mean that with options configured right in firebird the page that has arabic characters doesn't display right unless you change the encoding manually for just one time after which it changes to that encoding. This problem is absent in Mozilla.

did anyone notice that on firebird, the autodect->Universal detects the arabic as russian ?

I still have the same problem SaFrouT mentioned, on firefox now.

The mainpage is OKAY with arabic characters and all, but all posts contain garbage & I need to re-set to arabic encoding. any idea ????

Too bad Firefox can't go and view the encoding right. Change the encoding by hand ya Sherbo.
