i downloaded the yahoo vergion for linux and also the xmms and i choosed the desktop 2 lay them out
but when the download finish i cant see them on the disktop as they r not excist
and when i use the comman ls it can see them on the desktop
well am begginer so plz help

open your home directory then cd to Destkop and see what is there.

ok man thx so much for answering me in both topics . now i can see the programs i downloaded
i tried to run them using this command
rpm -i (the name of the program ) but it say
error : cant creat transection lock
i tried the 2 use it from the boot but when i typed the command ls it couldnt see the programs though

change to root, type su it will ask for your root password gave the root password and then do:
rpm -ivh package_name.rpm
