hmm not sure but try to check what's on line 4 in ~/.xinitrc
also check /etc/X11/Xftconfig (it looks like it's messed up or something).
peace
safrout

twm

Salamo 3alaikom,
Why don't you try copying the X configuration file of your home distribution to lfs and see what happens?
Salam.
safrout
i thik those errors r very normal since my X is workig fine
cos someone named J_MAN on the #lfs-support he is the OP their told me:
it is nomral for some "ERRORS" to pop up on the console when u close X
and about the mosue problem i figured that i was using the protocol auto not PS/2 for the mous in the file /etc/X11/X86config-4
ErrorMsg
Hmm
you mean when start X by gdm/kdm (normal runlevel 5)it works fine
but when you boot in runlevel 2 and type startx does not work
---
do you want to replace twm with gnome/kde
or something
alaa
safrout send us your .xinitrc file it is probably the source of the problem.
BTW are you doing all this stuff as root??
cheers,
Alaa
safrout
yes i am as root cos it is lfs and i am still building the system so i have to be a root
# Begin .xinitrc file
xterm -g 80x40+0+0 &
xclock -g 100x100-0+0 &
twm
alaa
well are you trying to run twm as you window manager??
safrout
yup
until i install my window manager
and byt he way i have screwed my lfs at all so i'll delete it and use the baclup i made for it after i have finished the basic system adn start from the first
cos i had made some mistakes during the installation which i am facing now all together :)
safrout
it was not my mistake
it was a bug in the bootscript and i have correct it :)
it is now up and running :)
