Alaa: I thought these tagging games where silly but since I learned a thing or two about my dear friend Uniball I find myself obliged to respond when he tags me.
يلا مرة من نفسي
Manal: I decided to join in the game!
10 years ago Alaa was 14, Manal was 13
oh my what interesting time, our formation years you could say, 10 years ago we were taking our first serious steps in a youth organization called Annosoor Assaghera (photos), we organized summer camps, learned about child rights, practiced democracy and had a great fun time with no adults around to bug us, and that's where we met, two years later we'll find ourselves deep in love in a most subtle/organic fashion.

thin line between under and over
I have a tendency to involve myself in way too many things, natural
outcome is of course not achieving anything.
the past year was unique, I was focused and determined, and managed to
achieve alot, I've been generally content (even happy at times) and
I'm quite proud of myself.
but I'm slipping back into my old pattern of confusion again, I don't
really follow a plan, as you can clearly see from my EGLUG todo list.
so in a lame attempt to reign in and take control here is a public
todo of my public activities

I will be appearing live today on European Radio Service (95.4 FM) at 11:15pm, the program is called Urban Sounds
believe it or not I will not be talking about blogs, politics, or GNU/Linux instead I will be talking about Creative Commons and music.
we'll play some of my favorite open music (all under creative commons license).
anyone with an FM radio tuner please record this for me.
Tracks likely to be played

today is the أربعين of my poor nibbler, after 40 days of mourning I think I can afford to move on.
so I'm now te proud owner of Shadowfax
yes I got me a new laptop yaaaaaay, this means I'll be adding more wifi hotspots soon, it also means I'm in debt till next year but hey shadowfax is worth it.
wikipedia has this to say about Shadowfax
Shadowfax is a mighty horse of Rohan, the chief of the Mearas, tamed by Gandalf and reluctantly granted as a gift to him (after Gandalf had borrowed him for some time) by King Théoden of the Rohirrim. No Man could tame Shadowfax. He would not tolerate a bridle or saddle, and only carried Gandalf by choice. The great horse also bore a hobbit, Pippin, for a short time during the War of the Ring.

as you all know very well I'm well known and loved all over the world, and this naturally leads to many interviews and I get mentioned in all sorts of media outlets.
but three interviews in three consecutive days? thats a record.
I did a brief interview with the most daring most interesting el ghad radio directly after my small skirmish with nabil el ezabi, but unfortunately I failed to record that. (Ihab can you send me a copy of the interview? please?)
then on thursday after the streets are ours (will blog about it soon), Me, Manal, Amr Gharbeia and Nora where invited to el ghad radio for a lengthy interview on المعارضة النهاردة with al ghad's first lady.
and finally on friday I did a skypecast interview (I used my phone so you can't blackmail me for using proprietary software) with Ethan from globalvoices

SlashDotInterview turned out to be a great success, Alaa is a famous guy now, everyone loves him, this time there was almost no racism (we must have misjudged slashdotters then) and very few trolls even though we got 530+ comments. Alaa met wonderful people, made new friends, got invited to Orkut and we did not get slashdotted.
The Interview

Yay Alaa is famous; slashdot is doing an interview with him http://interviews.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/05/05/1354234 .
Man look at the racist comments, we never could stomach slashdot, the trick ?MadFarmAnimalz tells us is to browse at +5!!!.
Anyway this is the first time we expose ourselves to racism (is this how it feels to be black, female, homosexual, jewish, copt, palestinian.... hell its probably even worse), but what scares us the most is how misinformed slashdotters are, maybe we should start a ?SlashDottersGuideToEgypt one day.
come to think of it this is probably a good idea, I doubt you can find a photo of an ?EgyptianBus or an ?EgyptianClassRoom on the web.
