Well, all of you are absolutely right. All of those who care should get togther and do something. But what should we do? Where is the starting point?
The presidential elections were devastating, but I thought to myself "it's OK, at least a sense of "hope for change" was created. People are mobilized. We'll manage to get a free parlimanet that would truely monitor the government and eventually, the roots of corruption would be taken out." Now, the last elections is a horrible set back. My God, are we doomed to stay in this for four more years?
I have always thought I'd pack up my gear and leave. Go somewhere else and live nicely. But that's NOT what I really want. Egypt is a very good place to live in. It's my home that had been abused for SO long. The egyptians are inherently good people (if we ignore the change of character that had taken place over the past 50 years for reasons we all know). I can't just leave "my home" to the abusers to do what they want with it! If I hate anything about Egypt, it's how it is being run (or stopped for that matter!).
I admit that what changed my heart was a conversation I had with a Benghali friend who lives in London. He told me "I lived here all my life. There is no where else I can call home, but England isn't my home either. There are so many things that I don't like but there isn't much I can do. Now, you are very lucky to be living here. Egypt is your country and you can do whatever you want with it." Well now, this IS true. There is no where else I can call home. I believe I'm more Egyptian than most of those in office because I'm sincere, I have no stake (other than wanting the best for my country) and I don't abuse being Egyptian. I believe the current regieme is much worse than occupation.
Now something needs to be done. If only someone could show me the way!!!!!!!
