Manal and Alaa's bit bucket free speech from the bletches

I am not sure but willing to bet that who ever committed these sexual assaults in June of 2000 are probably foreigners in the US. I am an Egyptian who lives in the US; although the state I live in is nowhere as wild as New York. But I can tell you that when walking on the streets here I am never afraid that someone might harass me. Human nature is the same every where and men are “pigs” whether they were born in Egypt or the US. The main difference is the LAW. We actually have laws here that make men think a hundred times before harassing anyone. Do they have dirty thoughts? Of course but they can’t act on them. That is why you find that the most common here is either sexual harassment from a place of power where the woman would be afraid to report it OR just plain rape when the man in question thinks he can get a way with it but just your-everyday-in-the-street-comments-or-whistles(sp?)-or-stripping-the-woman-with-a-look, now that is very rare if ever happens here.
